Sowing date had a significant effect on the larval density, of the noctuid Helicoverpa armigera on chickpeas (Cicer arietinum) in Pakistan but plant population did not. The pupal population density of the ichneumonid parasitoid Campoletis chlorideae was not affected by either factor, but was found to be a quadratic function of host larval density. These results can be used for monitoring populations of the noctuid. none
