none Enter A study to survey the parasitoid "species of the fruit flies (Diptera: Tephritidae) of the safflower Carthamus tinctorius (Asteracea) was carried out in safflower fields at the farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, Damascus University, Syria in spring and summer plantations, season 2012. Heads of the safflower were found infested with the tephritid fruit flies; Acanthiophilus helianthi Rossi and Chaetorellia carthami Stackelberg. Infested heads were collected for successive six weeks before harvest. Total larvae and pupae of each species were counted. The fruit fly A. helianthi was the most abundant. Five associated hymenopteran parasitoid species namely; Bracon luteator Spinola, 1808; B. intercessor Nees (Braconidae); Eurytoma varicolor Silvestri, 1915; E. rtellii Domenichini, 1960 (Eurytomidae) and Torymus rubi (Schrank 1781) (Torymidae) were recorded for the first time on the safflower fruit flies in the region. Abundances of the parasitoid species were determined. 2014 noneEmail20150320 Basherofecky@yahoo.com
