none not available no species The diet of a nursery colony of serotine bats Eptesicus serotinus in Vaduz (Principality of Liechtenstein) was investigated by analysing fecal pellets collected from the roost during 2002-2004. The diet spectrum was dominated by big to little-sized swarming insects of the groups scarab beetles (Scarabaeidae: Melolontha, Aphodius), true bugs (Heteroptera), moths (Lepidoptera), craneflies (Tipulidae) and ichneumon wasps (Ichneumonidae). Cockchafers (Melolontha sp.) and forest bug (Pentatoma rufipes) were found to be present in nearly 50 % of the analyzed fecal sample. Several of the ascertained prey species indicates that serotine bats were hunting nearby vegetation of woodland as well as in open habitats of meadows, pastures and waters. Insecta (Arthropoda): [Prey]. Eptesicus serotinus (Vespertilionidae): [Predator]. noneEmail20150402 andres.beck@gmx.ch
