comment:
none Observations of parasitoid host acceptance and oviposition behavior in the laboratory led to the development of a method for presentation of host larvae to adult Catolaccus grandis (Burks) (Hymenoptera: Pteromalidae) and Bracon mellitor Say (Hymenoptera: Braconidae). This methodology has been further developed for use in rearing these parasitoids in the laboratory. Parafilm shaped so as to enclose host larvae and to be acceptable to the parasitoid adult is the substrate. The method has been utilized in rearing four other species of parasitoids of boll weevil, and may be generally useful in rearing other parasitoids which attack hosts that are enclosed in plant and other host structures.
