none The effects of a chemically-defined synthetic diet developed for the adult females of the hymenopterous endoparasitoid, Pimpla turionellae L. fecundity and the percentage of egg hatch of the insect were investigated. The synthetic diet consisting of approximately 3.00% amino acid mixture, 14.00% carbohydrate, 0.54% lipid mixture, 0.28% vitamin mixture, 0.35% inorganic salt mixture and 0.07% RNA had no adverse effect on survival of the insect. However, maximal egg production period of the females fed on the synthetic diet occurred about one week later than that of the females fed on Galleria mellonella L. hemolymph 50% honey solution used as a natural food in the laboratory.
