The parasitism of Apanteles galleriae was studied in the laboratory condition with the young larvae of Galleria mellonela as its host. The results showed that the female wasp laid 45.85 eggs on the average, with the most being 68 eggs. The eggs were mostly oviposited in the 1st to 4th abdomen of the host, and only one or two eggs were laid in most hosts. A. galleriae could parasitize 1 - 4th instars of G. mellonella, and preferred the 2nd and 3rd instar. The preference indexes were 0.35 and 0.42, respectively, for 2nd and 3rd instars when the wasp was exposed to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th instars of host simultaneously. BR Parasites diseases and disorders.
