none Entered Effects of different sugar resources on the longevity and egg mature of Microplitis mediator, a larval synovigenic endoparasitoid, were compared in our experiment. The results showed that both food and sex affected longevity of this wasp. The longevity of female wasps feeding on sucrose, glucose, fructose and maltose was 17. 6 d, 15. 6 d, 14. 4 d and 10. 3 d, respectively, which was significantly longer than feeding on the water control; the longevity of male wasps feeding on these sugars was 7. 6 d, 11. 0 d, 11. 3 d and 6. 6 d, respectively, which was significantly longer than feeding on control, too. The longevity of female wasps was longer than that of male wasps under the same conditions. Newly emerged female beard 13% mature eggs in their ovaries, and the average mature eggs were 7. 13. When the parasitoids fed on the five different sugars, the number of mature eggs and the total number of eggs including immature and mature eggs significantly increased and declined gradually subsequently. Meanwhile, the peak time of the number of mature eggs varied among the different diets. Our results aimed to promote the reproduction potency and efficiency of this parasitoid. May 25 2015
