A study was conducted to investigate the difference in diversity, population abundance and species similarity of braconid wasps in three logged and fragmented forests in the Langat Basin in Selangor, Malaysia. Sampling was done for one week per month from July to November 2001 using nine Malaise traps per forest. Traps were placed at 5m, 250m and 500m along a transect (three transects per forest) from the edge to 500 m into the forest. A total of 953 Braconids comprising 19 subfamilies and 91 species (morphospecies) were collected. Of the 953 individuals, 195 individuals were collected at HSUKM (UKM Forest Reserve), 344 at HSKLS (Southern Kuala Langat Forest Reserve) and 414 at HSKLU (Northern Kuala Langat Forest Reserve). The Microgastrinae, Gnampthodontinae and Rogadinae were the most abundant having 427, 133 and 98 individuals respectively. The Shannon-Weiner Diversity Index (H') indicated that HSUKM had a significantly higher H' value (3.27) than that of HSKLU (2.37) and HSKLS (2.76). Braconid diversity in the forests was not significantly different (P > 0.05) from forest's edge to 500 m into the interior. There was 42.3% species similarity between HSUKM and HSKLS, 42.9% between HSUKM and HSKLS, and 52.9% between HSKLU and HSKLS.
