comment:
Casinaria nigripes is the main parasitoid of the lasiocampid pine pest Dendrolimus punctatus. It attacks Ist- to 4th-instar larvae, resulting in total parasitism of up to 66.64%. Casinaria nigripes completes 6-7 generations a year, overwintering as larvae in its host. The development threshold for the whole life cycle is 9.0 + 0.6'C, with an effective temperature sum of 446.8 day-degrees C. Mature larvae emerge through the host skin and pupate on needles. Eight hosts and 4 hyperparasitoids were found in the field in Hunan Province, China. Rates of parasitism in forests were influenced by stand type and growing conditions, with the greatest parasitism in mixed stands followed by closed pure pine [Pinus] stands and then sparse stands. Parasitoid populations were related directly to precipitation in July-August, and inversely related to the number of days of frost. none
