not in Young Plantain (Musa AAB, cv. Harton) is one of the most important fruit trees in Venezuela, with more than 50,000 hectares in production. The objective of the present study was to observe the presence of natural enemies of Caligo memnon Felder in plantain. Sampling was undertaken from May 1999 to December 2006, in the following three municipalities: Francisco Javier Pulgar (Lat. 8[degree]52[minute]23[second] N - Long. 71[degree]38[minute]38[second] W), Colon (Lat. 8[degree]49[minute]17[second] N - Long. 71[degree]43[minute]13[second] W), and Baralt (Lat. 90301001, N Long. 71[degree]00[minute]00[second] W), in Zulia State. Eggs, larvae and pupae were collected from plantain leaves and placed in entomological cages for evaluation and identification of natural enemies. Cages were kept at 29 [degree]C mean temperature and 50% relative humidity, in the Integrated Management Laboratory for Plantain Pests, Phytosanitary Technical Unit, Faculty of Agronomy, Zulia University. Eight spe! cies of primary parasitoids were recovered in the three municipalities, in seven years and seven months: Eulophidae (ex-egg), Telenomus sp. (ex-egg), Cotesia sp.
