    none Enter The most important corn pest in Germany is the European Corn Borer (ECB) Ostrinia nubilalis. In the recent years it became increasingly difficult for farmers to control the ECB e.g. because of a bivoltine variety and monitoring problems. Bracon brevicornis is a larval parasitoid of the ECB and recently under investigation for its efficacy in initial field trials. The objective this of work was to evaluate the influence of high temperature on the quality of the braconid in prepupal and pupal stages in their cocoons during transport. Parameters were a) emergence rate, b) longevity of the emerging adults, c) sex ratio, d) parasitisation rate of emerged single females on larvae of Ephestia kuehniella. Before transport by mail the braconids were stressed in an incubator with single heat shocks for one hour at four different temperatures. Three treatments each temperature were a) control at room temperature, b) heat shock and transport without cool pack, c) heat shock and transport with cool pack. Transport after a one hour treatment at 30[degree] resulted in more than 90% emergence with cooling, 79% without cooling. At 45[degree]C there was reduction in the emergence of more than 50% without cooling, and 82% with cooling.
