Provision of quality food for the parasitoid that increase their survival, net and total fecundity rates is necessary to achieve the biocontrol of herbivore pests. Honeydew excreted through the anus by the aphids serve as natural food for several species of insects as it contains many carbohydrates, essential amino acids, lipids, vitamins etc. In the present study its dietary role was evaluated on the life-table parameters of an aphid parasitoid Lipolexis scutellaris Mackauer. The adult females were reared under following six treatments: (1) no food or water, (2) distilled water only, (3) honey only, (4) honey and distilled water (60: 40), (5) honeydew excreted by the aphids and distilled water (60: 40), (6) honeydew, honey and distilled water (30:30:40). Considerably higher female production, total progeny production, value of intrinsic rate of increase, and lower doubling time of the population etc. were achieved when the females were fed with honeydew mixed with water and honey. Therefore, in mass culture practices honeydew should be added to the food of aphid parasitoids. It can also be sprayed in fields in order to manipulate the host habitat to enhance the parasitism and success of biocontrol. none
