comment:
Developmental times of immature stages of Exetastes cinctipes Retz. varied inversely with temperature. Parasitoid required to develop from egg to cocoon 346.6 degree D-6.8 and 325.3 degree D-7.2 for females and males, respectively. For development into cocoon it required 342.6 degree D-7.2. At 20 degree and 24 degree C parasitized caterpillars stopped the feeding and entered the soil significantly earlier than non-parasitized ones (P lt 0.01). The development of parasitoid from the time of oviposition to forming the cocoon was highly synchronized with that of the host to pupation. The developmental rates of parasitoid's subadult stages were slightly different when the caterpillars were fed on leaves of kohlrabi or brussels sprouts, but they were significantly longer as the parasitoids developed in the hosts fed on semi-synthetic diet. The nutritional conditions of the host affected also the weight of parasitoid's cocoons.
