comment:
none1987 No parasite of Epimactis sp. (Xyloryctidae), which is a main leaf-eating pest on citrus in south China, has heretofore been reported. During the present investigation 35 species of hymenopterous parasites of Epimactis sp. had been found. Among them, Apanteles spp. (Braconidae), parasitizing the younger instar larvae, were predominant. The rate of parasitism of the larvae varied from 68.2% to 0.8%, with 14.4% on the average. In 1983, 7.3% of winter pupae were parasitized in Fuzhou. No clean culture practice in the citrus orchards has three advantages: Firstly, the parasites are more abundant both in number and in species. Secondly, the parasites recover more quickly after spraying of insecticides. Thirdly, higher rates of parasitism has been found both in the larva and the pupa of Epimactis sp.
