none. The fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith, 1797), is one of the most important pests of corn in the field. In order to identify the major natural enemies of the fall armyworm, a scouting of this pest was done in some growing regions of corn in Minas Gerais state, Brazil (Alto Paranaiba, Vale do Rio Doce and Sul de Minas regions) and in three places at the National Corn and Sorghum Research Center, in Sete Lagoas, MG state. Five regions were chosen, in each region three farms and, in each farm about 100 larvae were collected. In Sete Lagoas the scouting was done each 15 days. The larvae were carried to the laboratory and observed daily. The results showed that the parasitoids were almost the same in the regions and in Sete Lagoas: Chelonus sp. (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae). Eiphosoma vitticolle (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae); Archytase marmoratus (Diptera: Tachinidae); Eucelatoria sp. (Diptera: Tachinidae); Archytas incertus (Diptera: Tachinidae); Winthemia trinitatis (Diptera: Tachinidae); Lespesia archippivora (Diptera: Tachinidae) and Euphoracera floridensis (Diptera: Tachinidae). The highest index of parasitism occurred in Vale do Rio Doce region (53.3%). The parasitoids that occurred more frequently in all places were A. marmoratus and Chelonus sp. Also found were larvae dead with the fungus Nomuraea rileyi, nematodes of the genus Hexamermis and two granulosis and two nuclear polyhedrosis viruses.
