A survey is presented of the species of Gelechiidae associated with solanaceous plants from Colombia, with special reference to Scrobipalpula absolute. A review of the literature with details of the geographical distribution, host plants, and natural enemies is also included. Details of the biology and behaviour of S. absolute are given from studies conducted in the laboratory at 25.3'C and 74.9% RH. The pest was always associated with tomatoes. The mean duration of the larval period was 13.1 days. The pupal stage lasted 9.6 days for males and 8.8 days for females. Fecundity was 226.1 eggs/female. The braconid Apanteles gelechiidivoris parasitized larvae, while an unidentified ichneumonid and the pteromalid Zatropis sp. emerged from larvae and pupae. none
