Apanteles agonoxenae Fullaway and A. orelia Nixon are found to be conspecific. The valid name for this species is A. agonoxenae and A. orelia is a junior synonym of it. The species, which is a parasite on the coconut pest Agonoxena argaula Meyrick in the south-western Pacific, is redescribed, its distribution and biology are summarized and attention is drawn to its potential as a biological control agent.
