Apanteles galleriae is a solitary endoparasitoid that lays an egg in the abdominal cavity of a G. mellonella larva which develops in a parasitoid larva that grows and feeds on the host tissue. The purpose of this study is to analyze the morphology of the parasitoid prepupa using scanning electronic microscopy during the emergence and post-emergence from the host body. The result of this analysis will determine the morphological variations in the host body caused by the parasitoid larva and the structures involved in the emergence process. The Apanteles galleriae prepupae were noted emerging from the abdomen of Galleria mellonella larva, in the region of the false legs. No visible cuticular alterations were noted in the emergence region, but a regular edged opening making a cuticular lip. This study revealed interesting aspects of the host-parasitoid relationship, such as a possible fixation mechanism of the parasitoid larva in the host tissues that facilitate its emergence from the host. Both processes of host-parasitoid relationship are suggested by the presence of spines spread out on the prepupa body. The presence of "spines" and more developed tactile sensillae on the anterior region indicates that it is probably the most specialized one in both processes.
