NOTES ON TAXONOMY
According to Muesebeck, the species was named for Professor Garman. (Muesebeck, 1922)
The first included species in Protomicroplitis was Microgaster mediatus Cresson in July 1900 (Transaction of the Entomological Society of London 1900:292). Also in October 1900 (Proceedings of the United States National Museum. 23:132), Ashmead designated Protomicroplitis germani Ashmead as type species. (Ashmead, 1900)
