ORIGINAL NAME Ichneumon septemcinctorius SYNONYM Perithous brunnescens Koornneef,1951; Perithous exiguus Haupt,1954; Perithous marginellatorius (Dufour & Perris,1840); Perithous meridionator Aubert,1963; Perithous rufatus Constantineanu & Constantineanu,1968; Perithous varius (Gravenhorst,1829) COMBINATION HISTORY Hybomischos (Koponen et al, 1995; He et al, 1996; Yu and Horstmann, 1997; Kolarov et al, 1999; Ivanov, 2002; Kazmierczak, 2004; Kolarov and Gürbüz, 2004; Coruh and Ozbek, 2008) Perithous (Roman, 1912; Giordani Soika, 1942; Tereshkin, 1989; Thirion, 2005; Shaw, 2006; Kolarov, 2008) Perithous (Hybomischos) (Townes et al, 1965; Oehlke, 1967; Constantineanu and Constantineanu, 1968; Townes, 1969; Carlson, 1979; Kasparyan and Khalaim, 2007) Perithous (Perithous) (Haupt, 1954) NOTES ON TAXONOMY Thunberg in his 1822 and 1824 papers, published 308 new names. In the first paper (1822), he listed 596 Ichneumon names and gave a short description for each. In the second paper (1824) he gave the status of each name, either that it was just a redescription of an already available name or that it was a new name, with a more detailed description and the type location of each new name. Thus 1824 paper should be considered as the completion of a nomenclatural act started in 1822, and therefore the year of publications of the new names from these two papers should be considered as 1824 (Horstmann, 1999).
